This policy governs the distribution of community-created modifications (« mods ») for UNDER US (« Game ») through Steam Workshop. It is issued by Skills Issue Entertainment (« Company », « we ») and works together with the Modding Guidelines and the EULA. In case of conflict with the EULA, the EULA prevails.
1. Overview
UNDER US supports community-created modifications. Mods may be distributed through Steam Workshop only. Other platforms are not currently authorized for official distribution.
By publishing a mod on Steam Workshop, you agree to this policy and to the Modding Guidelines.
2. Allowed Content
Mods may include, in line with the Modding Guidelines:
- Gameplay modifications
- Custom maps or environments
- New creatures, assets, or mechanics
- Quality-of-life or balance improvements
- Other original content that does not violate this policy or the law
Content must comply with the restrictions below and with the platform's own rules (e.g. Steam Workshop Guidelines).
3. Prohibited Content
The following is not permitted:
- Illegal or infringing material: Content that is illegal, infringes third-party rights (e.g. copyright, trademark), or contains hate speech, harassment, or defamation.
- Redistribution of the Game: Mods that redistribute the full Game, DLC, or substantial proprietary game files in a way that allows others to play without a valid license.
- Malware or harmful code: Mods containing viruses, malware, spyware, or code designed to harm users' devices or data.
- Security bypass: Mods that bypass or undermine the Game's security, anti-cheat, or license systems, or that are designed to give unfair advantages in multiplayer (cheats, exploits).
- Content that violates platform rules: Content that violates the terms or rules of Steam, Epic Games Store, or Unreal Engine (e.g. Steam Workshop Guidelines, Epic's distribution terms, Unreal Engine EULA where applicable).
The Company may treat prohibited content as a violation of the EULA and take appropriate action (e.g. removal, account sanctions).
4. Monetization
Mods may not be sold or monetized (e.g. paid downloads, paywalled access) without written permission from Skills Issue Entertainment. Voluntary support (e.g. optional donations, Patreon for general creator support) may be permitted; the Company reserves the right to clarify or restrict this in future updates to this policy.
5. License Grant to the Company
By publishing a mod, you grant Skills Issue Entertainment a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, modify, distribute, and integrate the mod (or derivative works) into the Game or related materials. This is consistent with the EULA and the Modding Guidelines.
6. Use at Your Own Risk / No Warranty
- Mods are provided « as is ». The Company does not endorse, guarantee, or support third-party mods.
- Use of mods may affect game stability, progression, or compatibility with future updates. The Company is not responsible for any loss of data or other harm resulting from the use of mods.
- In multiplayer, some servers or modes may restrict or disallow certain mods; compliance with server rules and the EULA is your responsibility.
7. Moderation
Skills Issue Entertainment reserves the right to:
- Remove or disable any mod that violates this policy, the Modding Guidelines, or the EULA.
- Report violative content to the distribution platform (e.g. Steam).
- Take action against users who repeatedly or seriously violate these rules, in accordance with the EULA.
