Skills Issue Entertainment (« Company », « we ») supports community modding for UNDER US (« Game »). These guidelines describe what is allowed and what is not. They work together with the EULA and the Workshop & Mod Distribution Policy; for publishing and distributing mods (Steam Workshop), that policy also applies.
1. Overview
Modding is permitted and encouraged to expand and customize gameplay. By creating or publishing mods, you agree to these guidelines and to the relevant sections of the EULA (including the license you grant to the Company for your mod content).
2. Allowed Mods
Subject to the restrictions below, you may create mods that include:
- Gameplay changes (mechanics, balance, rules)
- New creatures, assets, or content
- Custom maps or environments
- Quality-of-life improvements
- Visual or audio modifications
- Other original content that does not violate these guidelines or the law
Mods must not contain illegal or infringing material (see Restrictions).
3. Restrictions
- Monetization: Mods may not be sold or monetized without prior written permission from Skills Issue Entertainment. Donations or « tip jar » links may be permitted for voluntary support; paid access to mods (e.g. paywalls, subscriptions) requires written authorization.
- Redistribution of the Game: Mods may not include or distribute the full Game, DLC, or substantial parts of the Game's files. Only what is necessary for the mod to function (e.g. as allowed by the mod tools or platform) may be included.
- Illegal or infringing content: Mods must not contain illegal content, hate speech, or material that infringes third-party intellectual property or other rights. Do not use content that violates the terms or rules of Steam, Epic Games Store, or Unreal Engine where applicable.
- Security and integrity: Mods must not bypass or undermine the Game's security, anti-cheat, or license systems. Mods that give unfair advantages in multiplayer may be treated as cheating under the EULA and Server Rules.
- Platform rules: Mods distributed via Steam Workshop must comply with Steam Workshop Guidelines and with the rules of any related services (e.g. Epic Games Store, Unreal Engine) that apply to your content.
4. Ownership and License to the Company
- You retain ownership of your original creative work in the mod.
- By publishing a mod, you grant Skills Issue Entertainment a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free license to use, modify, distribute, and integrate your mod (or derivative works) into the Game or related materials, without further compensation or attribution unless otherwise agreed in writing. This is consistent with the EULA.
5. Distribution
- Mods may be distributed through Steam Workshop only. Other platforms are not currently authorized for official distribution of UNDER US mods.
- Distribution must comply with the Workshop & Mod Distribution Policy (e.g. no malware, no full-game redistribution, no prohibited content, and compliance with Steam Workshop, Epic Games Store, and Unreal Engine rules where applicable).
6. Support and « As Is »
- Skills Issue Entertainment is not obligated to provide technical support for third-party mods.
- Mods are used at your own risk. The Company does not guarantee that mods will work with current or future versions of the Game. Game updates may break or alter mod functionality.
- The Company is not responsible for loss of progress, data, or other issues caused by mods.
7. Moderation
The Company reserves the right to remove or disable mods that violate these guidelines, the EULA, or applicable law. Repeated or serious violations may result in action under the EULA (e.g. account restrictions).
